Ride the King’s Highway
It’s Dry, It’s Hot
I started out with dark clouds hanging over my head. It started to sprinkle and it felt great, but the sprinkle soon turned into a storm. I couldn’t see a thing through my windjammer and I had to pull over to the side of the road. I stopped under an overpass and when the rain lightened I continued onward. When it finally stopped raining, it was only a matter of minutes for my clothes, sleeping bag, and tent to dry in the Utah heat. By the time I got to Mesquite, Nevada I couldn’t take it any longer. I was dripping with sweat and I was fatigued. I couldn’t even make the 80 extra miles to Las Vegas. It turned out to be a great decision as the rooms in Mesquite were only $20 a night and some of the best in which I had stayed.
